Appointment Only / Consultation
We have an appointment only policy to ensure the cake ordering process is stress free and enjoyable. Currently in person appointments are only available for wedding cake orders or orders over $300.00. The best days for appointments are Monday - Wednesday.
Our preferred payment methods are electronic transactions via PayPal or Square. We accept Cash, Visa, American Express, Discover and MasterCard. We do not accept checks.
Deposit & Cancellation
A $50.00 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your date, which goes toward your total balance. The final balance is due two weeks prior to the event date. Additional changes are possible up to two weeks prior to the event date. Upon acceptance of the deposit, we will reserve the event date. If an order is not picked on the day of delivery or delivery is denied, the client is responsible for any additional costs. We will make every attempt to contact the client in the event of a missed pickup date or denied delivery. In the event of cancellation: All requests for cancellation must be made in writing. If a cancellation is received four weeks prior to the agreed delivery date, the aforementioned deposits or payments will be refunded less the $50.00 non-refundable deposit.
Delivery & Pick Up
Delivery is quoted as an additional fee based on location. Certain cakes can not be picked up as they may require assembly on site. Charges will be added to your total. A delivery time and location must be provided two weeks prior to the event. We reserve the right to deliver the cake up until the reception starts. It you choose to pick up your cake, Sugarland Cakes is not responsible for the cake once it is in the care of the client.
Consultation & Cake Tasting
Cake tastings are available by request once the order is confirmed and a deposit is accepted. Not all flavors will be available during the tasting. During the meeting, we will also finalize the design of your cake. If you should need to reschedule, or cancel, we ask that you contact us no later than 48 hours in advance. All consultations are by Appointment Only. Please email to see if your date is available and schedule an appointment. Consultations are encouraged but not required. Consultations & Tastings are reserved for Wedding Cakes and cakes over $300.00. All other orders may be placed via phone or email. A $50.00 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your date, which goes toward your total balance. The final balance is due two weeks prior to the event date. Additional changes are possible up to two weeks prior to the event date. Consultations allow us to discuss your cake design, flavor and pricing details. Only after we have accepted the $50.00 non-refundable deposit will your date be reserved.
Right to Withdrawal
Discovery of new information, changes to agreed circumstances or other factors, might result in a withdrawal. Non co-operation, changes to location, facilities or available times, missed appointments, non-confirmation of quote acceptance and late payments are examples of contributing factors. Sugarland Cakes may initiate the withdrawal: all fees will be returned, excluding the fair market value for any services / products already provided.
Sugarland Cakes will not be held responsible for any allergies. All cakes COULD contain traces of nut and or other food allergens. It is the responsibility of clients to inform their guests that traces of food allergens COULD be present in the cake. All allergies must be stated at the time of order, so we may do our best to reduce any risk.
Although every possible care will be taken with the delivery and set up of the cakes, once delivered or picked up the cake becomes the responsibility of clients and we cannot be held responsible for any destruction of the cake or products once they are in the care of clients.
We reserve the right to use any photos we take of your creation for any media related activities such as our website, social media or advertising.
We reserve the right to any minor alterations on the design if we deem necessary. Please note that our creations are all hand made and no two designs, even if produced by the same artist, are exactly alike.
Although we take every precaution to ensure all our cakes are decorated and structured properly, and it's highly unlikely that something will go wrong, we would still like to cover this circumstance to ensure you have peace of mind on your special day. Occasionally, incidents may occur that are out of our control (e.g. accidents, humidity and external people handling the cakes, power outages, ect.). Please be assured we will do everything in our power to correct damage that may have been done to the cake which may be through minor changes to the design (e.g. adding ribbon, flowers, replacing tiers with a dummy tier or moving some decorations around). However, if the above mentioned is not an option, as an absolute last resort, we may have to provide you with an existing display cake and compensate you after the event.
Stand/ Display Rentals
A $50.00 - $100 deposit will be added to your final balance, depending on the item being rented. In some cases the replacement cost exceeds the deposit. All pieces of the cake stand or display must be returned to Sugarland Cakes 4107 N 1100 W Pleasant View Utah 84414 by the following Wednesday. Late return or damaged pieces will result in charges to cover the replacement cost of the stand.
We are always happy to place your flowers on the cake courtesy to you. Please let us know ahead of time if we will be placing flowers so we can bring the appropriate tools. If you have a specific layout we will need to discuss placement ahead of time. Please ensure the florist leaves the correct flowers on the cake table, as we may not be there at the same time to coordinate. Also it is your responsibility to ensure any and all flowers being placed on the cake are non toxic. If toxic flowers are being used please let us know so we can bring barrier spikes to ensure the flower stems do not touch the cake. Although sugar/gumpaste flowers, figurines and decorations are made from an edible material, they should not be consumed as many will have internal dowels and wires.
Ornaments and Cake Toppers can be brought to the studio 2-4 weeks before the event or can be left on the cake table for us to place upon delivery. We will do our best to secure the ornament or topper. We are not responsible if your chosen item fall off the cake. Please let us know ahead of time if we will be placing anything on the cake so we can bring the appropriate tools to do so.
